IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: CROWDED PLACES [ANSWERS]

PART 1

CROWDED PLACES

ANSWERS

Do you like crowded places?

(Answer 1)

Not at all! Places that are crowded make me feel sick. I can’t stand (thoroughly dislike) places where I have to be with a lot of people. That is seriously draining (to be deprived of strength).

(Answer 2)

No, I don’t especially because I’m an introvert (reserved or quiet). As an introvert, my energy gets drained when I’m in a crowd, but attending a concert by my favorite artist is fine with me. I can manage myself in a concert venue that’s packed with fans.

How do you feel when you are in a crowded place?

(Answer 1)

I don’t like it at all as it’s suffocating (causing difficulty in breathing) for me. There were instances in the past when I fainted (passed out) because of too many people and because of that, I stay away from places where there’s a sea of people (a very large number of people).

(Answer 2)

I feel so uncomfortable because it’s hard to move. I hate it when I’m shoulder-to-shoulder (side by side) with other people as that simply reminds me of various news about stampede (an occurrence in which a large group of people run together in a wild or uncontrolled way to escape or get out of the place) that I watched in the past, especially the one in Korea when Koreans celebrated Halloween in 2022. That was frightening and whenever I’m in a crowded place, I always get reminded of that.

When was the last time you were in a crowded place?

(Answer 1)

Well, just a week ago at a train station. My friends and I went shopping and we didn’t expect that the train would be packed (crowded) with people since it wasn’t the usual rush hour. We just realized that most of those people came from a music festival in the city. We were left with no choice but to be with the crowd.

(Answer 2)

I think last Christmas. My family ate out at one of the most famous restaurants in our city. The restaurant was crowded with patrons (loyal customers). If I’m not mistaken more than a hundred customers were dining in that restaurant during lunch time. Honestly, I won’t do it again since the experience is not enjoyable at all.

What places do you think are often crowded?

(Answer 1)

Obviously, stations – be a train station or a bus station, especially during rush hour (when traffic is at its heaviest). That’s expected since a lot of people don’t have a vehicle to transport them from home to work and vice versa (with the order changed). That’s a struggle of ordinary people in their everyday lives.

(Answer 2)

Normally, it’s crowded at stations, malls, especially when it’s holiday, and concert venues. These places are expected to be crowded and if one needs to be in any of these places, he has to have more patience and cool (calmness) so his day won’t get ruined.

How often do you go to crowded places?

(Answer 1)

As I said, I stay away from crowded places. There’s no beautiful thing in those places. Those places are just making me feel uneasy. I believe I have enochlophobia (fear of crowds).

(Answer 2)

Well, I don’t necessarily need to go to crowded places but there are times that I get to such places unexpectedly. For example, I have to go to a mall during the holiday season to buy some gifts and I have to take the train during rush hour since I don’t have any choice. So, these are not deliberate (intentional), it’s the situation that causes me to be in those crowded places.
