IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: DREAMS and AMBITIONS [ANSWERS]

PART 1

DREAMS AND AMBITIONS

ANSWERS

What was your childhood dream?

(Answer 1)

Well, I wanted to be a doctor because I wanted to provide medical assistance to those who are ill, especially those underprivileged (in need; disadvantaged) individuals who are sick, however, that didn’t come to fruition (to successfully be brought into existence) because of financial constraints. But anyway, I became a nurse, and I’m still able to provide medical assistance to those people who are ill.

(Answer 2)

This is funny because all I dreamed of when I was a kid was to be a cashier. Back then, I thought that cashiers were so rich because they had a lot of money in the cash register (a machine in a store or other business that records each sale and where money is kept). I didn’t understand that it’s not their own money, I only thought that they’re having so much money. So, I wanted to be like them. That was so innocent of me.

Are you the kind of person who sticks to dreams?

(Answer 1)

Yes, I am! Whenever I want to attain  (achieve) something in life, I’m more than focused on working on that dream. It may take a while but I will never say never  (to avoid thinking or saying that something is impossible). Any dream takes time, hard work, and determination. That’s always my reminder until I make my dream a reality.

(Answer 2)

Yes, I’m a firm believer (strong believer) in myself that I achieve the things that I believe I deserve in life. Yes, there are times that I feel upset (disappointed) because it takes time to make my dream a reality, but that feeling is common to all of us. We’re humans capable of feeling different emotions. But, you know what, I don’t let that disappointment stop me from working on achieving my dreams.

What is your dream job?

(Answer 1)

Well, despite the fact that I wanted to become a physician  (doctor) when I was a child, I can say that the job that I have right now is a dream job of mine. I couldn’t be happier (to be very happy) helping my patients recover from their illnesses. Being a nurse is truly a rewarding (satisfying) career even though it’s physically and mentally demanding  (difficult; challenging).

(Answer 2)

Honestly, the job of a pilot. I believe that’s an amazing job because they can travel the world. They can see the beauty of the skies and see the different views of this planet from above which an ordinary person cannot experience in their day-to-day life. But anyway, I’m still incredibly  (extremely) grateful for my current profession.

Do you think you are an ambitious person?

(Answer 1)

Yes, without a doubt (undoubtedly)! Oftentimes, I challenge myself to set big goals and achieve them because doing so gives me the energy and motivation to keep going (to continue moving forward) in life. I can’t imagine my life without ambitions, I think that kind of life is pointless (no direction).

(Answer 2)

Definitely! I am always driven by my ambitions in life. I feel that my life has meaning if I have ambitions because I have a reason to wake up every morning feeling motivated to give my 100% best in the work that I do. Recently, I achieved one of my major ambitions and it made me realize that I have the power (ability) to make my dreams a reality.
