WORK OR STUDY: IELTS SPEAKING PART 1

IELTS Speaking Part 1 Work Or Study TOPIC. Talking about your work or your study in the IELTS Speaking exam.

PART 1

WORK / STUDY

ANSWERS

work or study ielts speaking part 1 questions
A medical practitioner in the laboratory ยฉAni Kolleshi (Work or Study: IELTS Speaking Part 1)

Do you work or study? / Are you studying or working? ย

(Answer 1 – if youโ€™re a worker [nurse] ) ย

Iโ€™m currently working as a nurse in one of the most reputable (well-respected) medical clinics in this city. Iโ€™ve been working there for almost two years now and I couldnโ€™t be happier (to be very happy) helping lots of patients, most especially when they express their gratitude to me.ย

(Answer 2 – if youโ€™re a worker [IT Engineer] ) ย

Iโ€™m an IT engineer working in the most popular IT Solutions company in this country. My main roles include managing network systems, designing hardware configurations, installing software, and training staff on correct operating procedures.ย  ย  ย

Do you like your work? ย

(Answer 1 – NURSE)

Definitely! This job is one of the most essential and rewarding (satisfying) jobs in the world. I donโ€™t see myself doing a different job, I believe I was really born to serve patients. For me, itโ€™s undeniably fulfilling (satisfying and happy)ย to provide medical assistance or educate people about the importance of health.ย  ย

(Answer 2 – IT Engineer) ย

Yes, I do, however, because of the nature of my work, I sometimes feel extremely exhausted, most especially when our clients are so demanding. Whenever we have those kinds of clients, itโ€™s impossible for me to maintain a work-life balance. But anyway, itโ€™s a great job, in terms of (with regard to) compensation (money received by an employee from an employer).ย

Whatโ€™s the most challenging aspect of your job? ย

(Answer 1 – NURSE) ย

I believe losing patients is incredibly the most challenging part of my work. As much as possible and to the best of our knowledge and effort as nurses, we want to save our patients – we want them to survive and be healthy again.ย  However, there are some circumstances that it’s beyond our control (no intervention will help things) and that’s the hardest part of being a nurse.ย  ย

(Answer 2 – IT Engineer) ย

Like Iโ€™ve just said when I canโ€™t maintain a work-life balance because of tight deadlines set by extremely demanding clients. Thatโ€™s seriously a challenge not just for me but also for my teammates. During those times, we usually canโ€™t help ourselves (unable to control)ย but become stressed out. ย  ย

Are you studying or working?

(If you’re a STUDENT) ย

(Answer 1) ย

Iโ€™m a senior student studying Fine Arts at ABC University. Actually, Iโ€™m really looking forward (to feel excited about what’s going to happen) to my graduation day, which is just a few months from now, since I can start living independently. And the idea of getting my diploma makes me really thrilled (be excited).ย  ย  ย

(Answer 2) ย

Iโ€™m still studying and Iโ€™m in my last year of high school. Iโ€™m excited to finish my high school studies this year because Iโ€™ll live in the US next year to study engineering at one of the prestigious (reputable)ย colleges there.ย  ย  ย

Why did you choose that major? ย

I was inspired by the works of Vincent Van Gogh when my high school art teacher introduced Vincentโ€™s works to us. I was at a loss for words (unable to think of anything to say) when I looked at his paintings for the very first time. His pieces of art were just incredibly spectacular. Since then, I knew what I wanted to become, and that made me decide to study Fine Arts.ย  ย

(Follow-up question) Which type of engineering course should you study in the US? ย

Iโ€™d like to take up a computer engineering course because Iโ€™m really passionate about computers and programming. Besides, I really believe that there are plenty of lucrative (profitable)ย job opportunities in store for those people who attain this degree, especially with distinction (with special awards or recognition). ย  ย  ย
