Does your name have any special meaning?

Oh wow! Well, my name is a combination of my parents’ names. That’s special simply because I carry the name of my beloved (dearly loved) parents and I’m their only child whose name is a combination of theirs. Actually, the meaning behind my name is a great ruler. Isn’t it awesome?

Yes, and the meaning of my name is a gift of God. Well, my parents are devoted Christians so all of us, their children are named based on Christianity. I love my name and I feel so blessed that my parents gave me such a wonderful name.
Does anyone in your family have the same name as you?

No, I’m the only one who has this name. This is special because like I said it’s a combination of my mom’s and dad’s names. I love my name because it’s unique and I have never met anyone whose name is the same as mine.

Well, there’s none but I have one distant relative whose name is the same as my name and we get along (have a friendly relationship) with each other and I can say that we have similarities. Sometimes it’s very funny when our family has a reunion and he’s present because when someone calls our name, we get confused about whom they’re referring to.
Are there any names that are more popular than others in your country?

Well, I’m not so sure but I can say that women’s names such as Anne, Rose, and May are pretty (very) common. As for men, Ryan and Daniel are also popular. I have met a lot of people since I was a grader whose names are those names I mentioned. I’m glad that my name is not of those as I find those names incredibly (very) common.

Yes, as the people in my country are mostly Christians, names that are in the bible are undeniably popular. Names like Mary, John, James, Mathew, and Fatima are common. Well, those names have relevance (importance) in Christianity so it’s no wonder why a lot of parents choose any of those names for their children.
Are there any differences between how parents in your country name their children now and in the past?

Yes, I believe so because, in the past, parents usually named their children in a form of combining their names just like what my parents did to come up with (to think of something) my name. However, in this new generation, a lot of parents name their children after a celebrity or a character in a movie. Well, I don’t see any problem with that.

I’m not sure about this but I think there’s no difference. The majority of new parents are still using Christian names to name their children like what parents did in the past. And for those who have a different religion, the way they name their offspring (children) is mostly based on their own religion or their beliefs. So, I don’t think there’s a change in the way new parents name their children as compared to the way parents in the past named their children.
Is it easy for you to remember people’s names?

Unfortunately not, I’m terrible at remembering names, especially to my acquaintances (a person one knows slightly ). I’ve had some embarrassing experiences where I called someone with a different name by mistake (accidentally) and all I got was a blank stare (a look that shows one doesn’t understand what someone has said). But, with my closest friends and family, I can’t be wrong.

Yes! I can easily remember people’s names, I believe that’s because I pay more attention when I’m introduced to someone. I don’t want to put myself in an awkward situation where I have to ask the person’s name again after the conversation. That’s simply not right!
How do you remember people’s names?

Like I’ve just said, I’m bad at it, however, lately, I’ve been making an effort to remember names by associating (connecting someone with something ) their name with their personality or their special physical features like a mole, hairstyle, teeth, and the like (and similar things). I think that’s the best way to improve my memory in terms of remembering names.

I just simply pay much attention when I’m introduced or when I introduce myself to people and vice versa. Normally, when you listen carefully to someone’s introduction, there’s no reason why you can’t remember their name. And honestly, that’s being taught in Values education (a subject in which students are taught about the ideals that society deems important) in school.
How do you feel when people can’t remember your name?

I don’t really mind (I don’t worry; it’s okay with me) at all, but if they keep forgetting my name despite seeing each other often, then I’ll surely feel bad about it because it simply shows that I don’t really matter (be important ). Yes, I accept that I’m bad at remembering names, however, never have I forgotten my friends’ names as they all matter to me.

It depends, in a business setting, if the person I’m acquainted with or introduced to can’t remember my name, I lose trust in that person. If it’s a casual gathering, I don’t give importance to it. That’s just a petty (unimportant) thing.
Do you often forget people’s names?

Yes, and I admit (acknowledge) that that’s a bad habit that I really need to change. One of my resolutions (decisions to do or not to do something ) this year is to be more mature in life and be more professional when it comes to social gatherings. And I think the first step to achieving that is remembering people’s names in both formal and informal gatherings.

Not at all! I always make sure to remember the names of my acquaintances because I just enjoy meeting new people. I always believe that if you recognize your acquaintance by their name when your paths cross (when two people’s paths cross, it means they meet) again, they feel special and they think that you’re a nice person for remembering them. I have had lots of experiences where my acquaintances express their gratitude for remembering them and that makes me happy.
