IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: CHILDHOOD ACTIVITIES

What were your favorite activities when you were a child? As far as I remember, I loved cycling with my friends around the rice paddy of our neighbor, playing hide and seek, and swimming in the lake. I had the best childhood, and remembering those days is bittersweet.

PART 1

CHILDHOOD ACTIVITIES

ANSWERS

What were your favorite activities when you were a child?

(Answer 1)

As far as I remember, I loved cycling with my friends around the rice paddy ( a field planted with rice growing in water)  of our neighbor, playing hide and seek, and swimming in the lake. I had the best childhood, and remembering those days is bittersweet (a mixture of happiness and sadness).

(Answer 2)

Back then (a particular time in the past), I could only play outside with my friends on weekends since I wasn’t allowed to go out during the weekdays. I had to study and read books on weekdays, and had a few minutes for computer games. And on weekends, I had all the time to meet my friends outside, and we enjoyed playing various kinds of games. I wish I could turn back time.

Did you prefer to do activities alone or with a group of people when you were a child?

(Answer 1)

I enjoyed doing things with my friends when I was a kid. I was sociable (very friendly) and cheerful. So, most of the time, kids my age enjoyed spending their time with me, and I liked it since I was the only child of my parents.

(Answer2)

Well, there were times that I enjoyed spending time on my own, but there were also times when all I wanted was to be with my playmates when I was a child. I remember I loved going out every weekend with my friends and playing some traditional games with them, but on weekdays, I stayed at home, read books, and studied by myself. I think it was a good training to learn about discipline.

Are there any differences between the activities you liked when you were a child and those you like now?

(Answer 1)

Of course! I’m into (be interested in) sports now; I play tennis during my free time, and I enjoy running as it helps me relieve stress. I wasn’t sporty when I was a child; all I had in my mind was play.

(Answer 2)

Absolutely! I love traveling now as I have the means to do so. I do it whenever I have the chance. Also, I spend some time swimming as a way to keep myself fit on my days off, and I couldn’t be happier (to be very happy) doing that because I’m feeling mentally and physically well.
