PART 1
PLANTS
(ANSWERS)
Do you keep plants at home?
(Answer 1)
No, I don’t since I’m living in a studio apartment (an apartment with a single room). Obviously, I don’t have a space to grow a plant. Besides, growing plants needs effort and time, and unfortunately, I’m always busy with work and personal matters.
(Answer 2)
Yes, I have some succulents (plants such as cacti in which the leaves and stems are thick and can store a lot of water) in my house. I love taking care of them because they help me relieve stress. I’ve been keeping them for two years now and I couldn’t be happier (to be very happy) growing them.
What plant did you grow when you were young?
(Answer 1)
I remember we had a vegetable garden in my parents’ residence. That’s when I learned how to grow different kinds of vegetables such as lettuce, carrots, and radish. It’s my dream to have my own house and have a backyard so I can do gardening.
(Answer 2)
Ever since I was a child, I’ve loved ornamental plants and that’s because my mom is a collector of different kinds of decorative plants. So, I helped her grow her plants by watering them and cultivating the soil. I’m pretty sure I got my interest in planting from her.
Do you know anything about growing a plant?
(Answer 1)
Yes, but just basic ideas as my parents taught me when I was a kid. I know how to add fertilizer to plants so they can grow healthily, I know about weeding, and I know how to water the plants. These are just pretty basic and I know everyone can do these things.
(Answer 2)
Of course, and that’s because my mom taught me how to take good care of plants. I believe I have a green thumb (very good at gardening) since I can easily grow plants and they don’t die under my care. It’s a gift I take pride in (to be proud of).
Do people in your country send plants as gifts?
(Answer 1)
I’m not sure about this but what’s common in this country is giving flowers. Roses and carnations are given to loved ones as gifts but not the entire plant – just the flowers. I guess some people send plants to someone as gifts, it’s just that I haven’t known anyone in my circles (a certain group that I know) who does that.
(Answer 2)
Definitely! My friends and my relatives send plants as gifts. In fact, most of my succulents are gifted by them. I got three beautiful cacti from my friends and they’re my favorites. For plant lovers like me, getting a plant on our birthday surely makes us the happiest.
