PART 1
TEACHERS
ANSWERS
Do you want to be a teacher in the future?
(Answer 1)
Yes, I want to but sometimes I feel discouraged because of the complaints that I hear from teachers. They said that the behavior of some students was too much to bear (too difficult to cope with), the salary of teachers was not enough, and the paperwork was exhausting. Hearing these kinds of complaints makes me feel demotivated.
(Answer 2)
Definitely, not. I don’t see myself working in the academe (a place of instruction). I’m happy with my nursing career as this has been my passion and my dream ever since I was little.
Do you still remember a teacher from your past?
(Answer 1)
Well, I do remember all of my teachers. I’m not old yet to forget each of them. My memory is vivid that I still remember each of their names, the subjects that they taught when I was studying with them, and their fashion. I’m a person who doesn’t easily forget.
(Answer 2)
Yes, there’s one teacher that I can never forget and that’s my favorite teacher in high school. She’s so understanding of my situation since I wasn’t a fast learner compared to my classmates back then. She’s there for me whenever I felt overwhelmed (upset) in her class and she reassured (to say or do something to remove doubts) me that I would be able to catch up (to reach the same standard) with my classmates.
Are you still in touch with your primary school teachers?
(Answer 1)
Although I remember all of my teachers in my primary school, I don’t have any contact with them. I’m not friends with any of them on social media since I live a private life. But for sure, if our paths cross (if two people’s paths cross, the people meet), I’ll definitely greet them and start a conversation.
(Answer 2)
No, I’m not keeping in touch with any of my teachers. Yes, I have a favorite teacher but I don’t contact him. Personally, it’s weird to keep in touch with teachers because I always see them highly (in a way that shows admiration and respect), I mean, they were my teachers and I was only their student. So, there’s a boundary between us and I respect that a lot. But of course, if I see them accidentally, I will surely talk with them.

Do you think you could be a teacher?
(Answer 1)
I believe I could! I believe I have some skills that are required (needed) to become a teacher. I love learning different kinds of things because I just want to be knowledgeable and I think that kind of attitude is important if one wants to be a teacher. Besides, I enjoy sharing knowledge with anyone who needs it, and more importantly, I’m a problem solver. Considering all these things, I could be a teacher.
(Answer 2)
Well, I think I could be but I dunno if I really have the good qualities that a good teacher must possess (have). Perhaps, I could teach to the best of my ability but I doubt (feel uncertain about) myself if I could excel (to be proficient) in the field of educating learners.
Did you have a favorite teacher?
(Answer 1)
Well, I didn’t have any favorite teacher at all as far as I can remember. Although I had some good teachers that I looked up to (to respect and admire) when I was a student, I didn’t consider them my favorite. I treated all my teachers equally as they should be.
(Answer 2)
Yes, I did have a few. First, my teacher in literature because she helped us, her students, cultivate (develop) creative thinking and stimulate (encourage interest in) our minds to be imaginative. Second, my teacher in Philosophy and Logic subject in college, as he made me realize the importance of critical thinking skills and the way to deal with difficult questions. And lastly, my Values Education teacher in my primary school. She taught me the values that are important in life.
Do you think the job of a teacher is easy?
(Answer 1)
Never have I thought that a teacher’s job is a piece of cake (very easy). I always think of the different kinds of stress that they are experiencing from preparing the lessons and teaching the students, to practically responding to the needs of each student and disciplining them. I believe no single teacher in the world claims (declare) that their job is easy.
(Answer 2)
Well, their job is difficult. They know in the first place that their profession is demanding (requiring much effort) in so many ways, however, they still choose that profession because it’s their calling. And that I think makes them noble (honorable) and I believe we all should give them respect as they sacrifice their lives to educate us even if that profession demands so much from them.
What makes a teacher a good teacher?
(Answer 1)
In my opinion, a good teacher must be knowledgeable of the subject matter that he is teaching. He is also giving students the freedom to explore (to discover; look into) various things for the purpose of learning. Besides, he must understand students’ learning needs, and he must know how to address the weaknesses of students. Well, being kind and patient would be a bonus (an extra) but not as important as those qualities I mentioned.
(Answer 2)
I believe a good teacher has a passion for the profession that he chooses because if he’s not passionate, his students will simply suffer from his inefficiency (the lack of ability to do something) as a teacher. I don’t care if his experience is limited, especially if he has just started his career, but what matters most to me is his dedication and passion because all the other good qualities of a great teacher stem from (be caused by; to come from) those primary qualities.
